Sojourners Welcomes New Chief Advancement Officer
Adwoa Rey brings more than 15 years of servant leadership and dedication to social justice.
WASHINGTON, DC - Sojourners is proud to welcome Adwoa Rey as Chief Advancement Officer. In her role she will direct and oversee Sojourners Advancement department, and lead the growth and implementation of Sojourners fundraising efforts, including the public phase of its first-ever capital campaign, coinciding with its 50th anniversary.
Adwoa joins Sojourners with more than 15 years of experience, and is the President of Women of Praize, providing spiritual support for women of color in politics. Prior to joining Sojourners she served as Director of Finance and Development at The Faith & Politics Institute, an organization that advances our democracy by bridging political, racial, and religious divides.
“It is an honor to join a team dedicated to social justice and advocacy that is rooted in the Bible's call to build a fair and just society for all people,” Adwoa Rey says. “I look forward to working with many of you in this new position.”
A dedicated public servant with a passion for social justice, Adwoa is an active member of the community and has served in several key roles on Capitol Hill, including Special Assistant to the Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, Congressman John Larson (D-CT). Adwoa is a member of the Northern Virginia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and the Junior League of Washington. She serves on the Good Shepherd Housing and Family Services Community Leadership Council, Fairfax County Community Action Advisory Board, and Virginia’s COVID-19 Racial Disparities Task Force.
She earned her B.A. in Political Science from Southern Connecticut State University and her M.A. in Religious Studies from Howard University School of Divinity. Adwoa holds a management certificate from Harvard Business School, and is a graduate of The Campaign School at Yale University.
